Lyons Ranch Hosts 24th Annual Sale, Great Demand for Superior Genetics
The 24th Annual Lyons Ranch Superior Genetics Angus Sale held Monday, March 5, at the ranch south of Manhattan, Kansas, reflected an unprecedented cattle market and positivity in the beef business. The Lyons and Langvardt family sold 96 18 month-old Angus bulls to average $5932 and 15 open replacement females to average $1570.
The top-selling bull of the day was Lot 2, Lyons 454 New Day 0156, a son of B/R New Day 454 for $10,000. Lot 67, Lyons Santa Fe 0231, a son of Lyons Santa Fe 6119, sold for $9000. Two bulls sold for $8750: Lot 12, Lyons Sullivan 0136; and Lot 6, Lyons 454 New Day 0214.
The top-selling open heifer, Lot 106, Lyons Pride Dynasty 0246, a daughter of Mytty In Focus, sold for $1900. Lot 119, Lyons Rose 0267, a daughter of Lyons In Focus 8209, for $1800.
The big crowd on sale day included a loyal clientele base; 89% of the cattle sold went to repeat Lyons Ranch customers.
