Lyons Ranch Annual Superior Genetics Sale Sale Report - March 7, 2007 Another standing-room-only crowd of buyers made their selections from the 2007 Lyons Ranch sale offering of spring and fall yearling bulls and females on the first Monday in March, 2007. The Lyons family prides itself both on producing solid cattle that can perform in commercial and registered herds and on serving a good Angus meal for dinner! When the final gavel fell, 121 bulls averaged $3161 with bulls selling in a range from $1300 to $7000. The top selling bull was lot 43, a Future Direction son selling to Chippewa Valley Angus Farms of Rittman, Ohio for $7000. Four bulls sold for $4500: lot 2 to David Affolter, Morganville; lot 39 to Tailgate Ranch, Olathe; lot 49 to Jim Wilson, Silver Lake; and lot 100 to Mike Hagenmaier, Randolph. Twenty-five open heifers averaged $1712. The top selling heifers went to repeat customers. Lot 126 was purchased by Bell’s Angus in Irvington, Kentucky, for $3800. The second high selling heifer lot 125 sold for $3000 to Chippewa Valley Angus Farms in Ohio. Chippewa Valley also selected an outstanding top selling fall bred heifer, lot 151 for $3500. The 17 bred heifers averaged $1723. Volume buyers were Bell’s Angus, Kentucky; Chippewa Valley Angus Farms, Ohio; Randy Hern, Abilene; Frazier Farms, Winfield; T & S Farms, McEwen, Tennessee; and, Schmidt Ranch, Alma. |
