LYONS RANCH CELEBRATES 17TH ANNUAL BULL SALE

An impressive set of Angus bulls and open heifers from Lyons foundation cows highlighted the 17th annual “Superior Genetics” sale at the ranch south of Manhattan, Kansas for Jan and Frank Lyons and Family, Amy and Karl Langvardt and Tanner and Trey, and Debbie and Duane Blythe and Meghan, Allie, Trent, Tyler and Eric.

Many repeat customers from the first sale were in attendance and participated along with several new customers in previewing and selecting cattle for their individual programs.

121 bulls averaged $2938. and 30 open heifers averaged $1935.
Top bulls: Lot 67, a son of Future Direction, went to Eby Ranch at Overland Park, Ks. for $5500. Lot 65, another Future Direction son, sold for $4750 to Don Hogue of Wakarusa, Kansas. Lot 33, a son of New Design 1407 went to Chippewa Valley Angus Farms, Rittman, Ohio, for $4500. Also selling for $4500 was lot 70, a Future Direction son, going to Tim Dennis in Penn Yan, New York. Eby Ranch selected another Future Direction son, Lot 66, for $4500. Also selling for $4500 was lot 71, another Future Direction son, going to 2 B Ranch at Council Grove, Kansas.

Top heifers: Lot 164 went for $3400 to Eastfork Farms at Wellsville, Kansas. She was sired by Sitz Alliance, out of a New Design 036 cow. Eastfork Farms also selected Lot 170, a daughter of Future Direction out of a Rock N D Ambush 1531 cow for $2900. Lot 155, was selected by HW Cattle Co. for $2700. She is a daughter of Rito 6i6 out of a foundation cow by Right Time.

Volume buyers included HW Cattle Co., Eastfork Farms, Harris Ranch at California, Tom Hudgins from Tennessee, DeMott Farms from Bedford, Iowa, Tony McKee from Plattsburg, Mo, Frazier Farms from Winfield, and Sweet Springs Angus from Scranton.
